I am delighted to welcome you to the website that has been set up for the Lincoln Cathedral Foundation.

As many of you will know, Lincoln Cathedral has over the past few years been building on the many links that already exist between this wonderful building and the United States of America.

We have formed the Foundation to take this one step further. We want our choir to visit you, so that you can enjoy their remarkable music, but also so that the children in particular can learn something of your country. Our crafts men and women are already known to a number of you from their visits to the International Preservations Trades Conference and elsewhere in the States. We want to build on these links perhaps to give the opportunity to US citizens to work with us. In 2015 we celebrated the 800th Anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta. 2014 saw the most recent tour of the Magna Carta when it went to America.

We need to raise funds for this work, but also in order that the Foundation may support particular projects being undertaken on the conservation of Lincoln Cathedral. Projects are undertaken by people and we are blessed with a body of highly skilled crafts men and women. We would love donations to the Foundation to support a number of these engaging people in their work.

We are currently seeking permission to raise funds in a number of States. On the page entitled Become Part of the USA Foundation, we let you know when and where we have permission.

I believe that it is only possible truly to appreciate the inheritance and wonder of this great gothic building by visiting it. We greatly value the patronage of the Prince of Wales who shares our love for this wonderful place.

I would love to welcome you to Lincoln.

The Very Reverend Christine Wilson – Dean of Lincoln
